Learn the basic knowledge, skills, and attitude for owning and operating a pistol safely.
This is a 5-hour introductory course that includes both classroom time and live range time learning how to shoot revolvers and semi-automatic pistols. At the end of the course, students will receive feedback on all live-fire exercises along with a certificate of completion.
Students will learn:
Ammo requirements: 100 rounds for semi-auto pistol, 20 rounds of .22lr if you wish to shoot revolvers.

This is an 5-hour introductory course that includes classroom and range time learning how to shoot shotguns. At the end of the course, students will receive feedback on all live-fire exercises along with a certificate of completion.
Students Will Learn:
Ammo requirements: 50 rounds birdshot, 5 rounds 00 buckshot, 5 slugs. No steel shot, no steel slugs.

Learn the basic knowledge, skills, and attitude necessary for the safe use of a rifle in target shooting.

- Shooting from the bench rest, prone, sitting, standing and kneeling positions

Defensive Pistol
Level 1, Level 2, Level 3
Cost - $100 per person per class.
These are 5 hour classes which focus on improving handgun skills for personal protection.
Who this class is for: People who have basic experience target shooting or “plinking” with their handguns, but haven’t yet gotten into using their gun to practice gunfighting for the street.
Who this class is not for: People with extensive experience and training (Tier 1 types) in gunfighting tactics OR people who are totally unfamiliar with handguns.
Prerequisite: Basic gun handling skills and ability to maintain safety discipline, i.e. muzzle control and finger out of the trigger guard unless firing. Levels 2 and 3 require completion of the previous levels as a prerequisite.
All training will be done at the range and will include:

These are 5 hour classes which focus on improving handgun skills for personal protection.

- Reviewing and reinforcing the fundamentals of pistol marksmanship and handling.
- Shooting from touch-the-target close out to 15 yards
- Shooting one-handed.
- Point shooting.
- Using and shooting from cover.
- Malfunction clearances.
- Reloading.
- Drawing from the holster.
- Multiple targets, priority evaluation, failure to stop drills.
- Handling attacks from different angles.
- Shooting while moving.
- Emergency treatment of gun and knife wounds.
- and...Fun!!!
Equipment Required:
- Semi-auto handgun (not a .22, and not an unreliable gun. If it isn’t reliable, leave it home)
- 3 or more mags
- 300 rounds ammunition
- Belt
- Strong-side hip holster, outside-the-waistband. No inside-the-waistband, appendix carry, ankle, cross-draw, or shoulder holsters. No Blackhawk Serpa holsters. Also, no loose retention straps on the holster.
- Mag pouch
- Eye & ear protection (electronic earmuffs are highly recommended)
Optional Equipment (not required, but strongly suggested):
- Backup handgun (in case of a problem with your primary gun)
- Brimmed hat (protection from sun and hot brass)
- Sunscreen
- Water
- Sack lunch
- Closed neck shirt (protection from sun and hot brass)
- Closed shoes

Defensive Shotgun

Running a shotgun to its full potential is a challenging effort but very rewarding in that it allows the operator the ability to defend with devastating force out to 50+ yards.
Prerequisites: Basic shotgun proficiency. What does that mean? You should already know the following:

- Shirt with a closed front, like a T-shirt.

Defensive Rifle

- Magazine pouch.
- Snacks or lunch.
- Water or electrolyte beverages.

At The Ready's Concealed Carry Weapons class will provide you with all the knowledge, training, and confidence you will need to confidently and legally defend yourself and your loved ones if the need should arise. We hope it will never happen, but want you to be prepared if it does.
Taking the responsibility to carry a gun for defense is serious business. You will receive personalized instruction in defensive gun handling and safety, marksmanship, addressing multiple threats, malfunctions clearing, wound treatment, legal and psychological issues, and much more from an experienced and courteous instructor. You will also receive a well prepared packet of information for follow-up study. It is a serious subject, but you will have a lot of fun in the class!
At The Ready offers classes for both new applicants and renewals for the Nevada and Utah Concealed Carry Weapons Permits.
The new applicant class is 8 hours long and the renewal class is 4 hours including the shooting portion.
In both classes you will complete the necessary paperwork and qualify in live fire exercises on the range.
Here are some of the topics covered in the class:
Classroom portion is first and takes place in south Las Vegas near Rainbow Blvd. and Blue Diamond Rd. We then head out to the desert for qualifying and additional instruction on gun handling and tactics. We wrap up in late-afternoon.
Applications and curriculum handouts are provided. I recommend bringing your own firearm, but if you do not yet have one, rentals are available. Handguns available are 9mm Glocks. You provide factory ammo of at least 30 rounds of 9mm. New factory ammo only. No reloaded ammo.
Permit application and fees
The Nevada permit will authorize you to carry in 32 states, including Utah. For a list of states that accept the NV permit, go to handgunlaw.us and click on NV.
As of May 5, 2021, no permit is required to carry concealed in Utah. The Utah permit gets you another 2 states (Washington and Delaware) on top of the NV permit for a total of 34 states.
California does not accept the Nevada permit, or any other state's permit for that matter.
Class fees are: Nevada only $100
Utah only $70
Nevada and Utah together $120
Every student will receive a FREE POM pepper spray.
After taking the class, you will submit your application online to Metro and pay them $100.25 ($65.25 for renewals) in processing fees. You will then schedule an appointment to do your fingerprints and photo at Metro headquarters.
